Requirements specific to Registered Nurses in Illinois

Required Hours: 20

Illinois RNs and LPNs are required to complete at least 20 hours of CE for license renewal

Illinois APRNs are required to complete at least 80 hours of CE for license renewal

Beginning in 2019, practitioners in hospitals and pediatric hospitals must receive 2 hours of Sexual Assault Training by July 1, 2020


Illinois RNs are required to complete at least 20 hours of CE for license renewal

1 hour Implicit Bias
1 hour sexual harrassment prevention training
1-hour course in diagnosis, treatment and care of Alzheimer's disease, along with other dementia types. CE curriculum will involve how to identify and diagnose Alzheimer's, effective communication strategies and management and care planning. For RNs who provide services to adults 26 years of and older will be required to complete a one-hour course in diagnosis, treatment and care of Alzheimer's disease, along with other dementia types.
